Computer Integrated Manufacturing

Computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) in engineering is a method of manufacturing in which the entire production process is controlled by computer. Typically, it relies on closed-loop control processes, based on real-time input from sensors. It is also known as flexible design and manufacturing.

The term CIM both a method manufacturing, and the name of a computer-automated system in which individual engineering, production, marketing, and support functions of a manufacturing enterprise are organized. In this system functional areas such as design, analysis, planning, purchasing, cost accounting, inventory control, and distributions are linked through the computer with factory floor functions such as material handing and management, providing direct control and monitoring of all process operations.

 

As method of manufacturing, three components distinguish CIM from other manufacturing methodologies:

Means for data storage, retrieval, manipulation and presentation;

Mechanisms for sensing state and modifying processes;

Algorithms for uniting the data processing component with the sensor/modification component.

 

CIM is basically use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in manufacturing.

 

The idea of “Digital Manufacturing” is a vision for the 1980s. In the 1980s, Computer Integrated Manufacturing was developed and promoted by machine tool manufacturers and the CASA/SME (Computer and Automated Systems Associations/ Society for Manufacturing Engineers).

“CIM is the integration of total manufacturing enterprise by using integrated systems and data communication coupled with new managerial philosophies that improve organizational and personnel efficiency”.

 

There are three major challenges to development of a smoothly operating CIM system:

-- Integration of components from different suppliers: when different machines, conveyors and robots are using different communications protocols. In this situation, even differing lengths of time for charging the batteries may cause problems.

-- Data integrity: the higher the degree of automation, the more critical is the integrity of data used to control the machines. While the CIM systems saves on labor of operating the machines, it requires extra human labor in ensuring that there are proper safeguards for the data signals that are used to control the machines.

--Process control: computers may be used to assist the human operators of the manufacturing facility, but there must always be a competent engineer on hand to handle circumstances which could not be foreseen by the designers of the control software.

 

A CIM systems is not the same as a “lights out” factory, which would run completely independent of human intervention, although it is a big step in that direction. Part of the system involves flexible manufacturing, where the factory can be quickly modified to produce different products or where the volume of products can be changed quickly with the aid of computers.

Business software

 

Business software is generally any software program that helps a business increase productivity or measure their productivity. The term covers a large variation of uses within the business environment, and can be categorized by using a small, medium and large matrix:

 -- The small business market generally consists of home accounting software, and office suites such as Microsoft Office and OpenOffice.org.

 -- The medium size has a broader range of software applications, ranging from accounting, groupware, customer relationship management, human recourses software, outsourcing relationship management, loan origination software, shopping part software, field service software and other productivity enhancing applications.

 -- The last segment covers enterprise level software applications, such as those in the fields of enterprise resource planning, enterprise content management (ECM), business process management and product lifecycle management. These applications are extensive in scope, and often come with modules that either add native functions, or incorporative the functionality of third-party software programs.

 

A brief history of business software

 

The essential motivation for business software is to increase profits by cutting costs or speeding the productive cycle. In the earliest days of white-collar business automation, large mainframe computers were used to tackle the most tedious jobs, like bank cheque clearing and factory accounting.

 

Factory accounting software was among the most popular of early business software tools. The early use of software to replace manual white collar labor was extremely profitable, and caused a radical shift in white-collar labor. One computer might easily replace 100 white-collar ‘pencil pushers’, and the computer would not require any Health or Retirement Benefits.

 

Building of these early successes with IBM, Hewlett-Packard and other early suppliers of business software solutions, corporate consumers demanded business software to replace the old-fashioned drafting board. CAD-CAM software (or computer-aided drafting for computer-aided manufacturing) arrived in the early 1980s. Also, Project Management software was so valued in the early 1980s that it might cost as much as $500 000 per copy (although such software typically had far fewer  capabilities than Microsoft Project software, which one might purchase today for under $500 per copy ).

 

In the early days, perhaps the most noticeable, wide-spread change in business software was the Word Processor. Because of its rapid rise, the ubiquitous BM typewriter suddenly vanished in the 1980s as millions of companies worldwide shifted to the use of World Prefect business software, and later, Microsoft Word software. Another vastly popular software program for  business was Lotus 1-2-3-, a mathematical spreadsheet, and later, Microsoft Excel.

 

In the 1990s business shifted massively towards globalism with the appearance of software which coordinates a supply-chain of vendors, potentially worldwide, for the most efficient, streamlined operation if factory manufacture.

 

Yet nothing in the history of business software has had the global impact of the Internet, with its Email and Websites that now serve commercial interests worldwide. Globalism in business fully arrived when the Internet became a household world.

Trading system

In electronic financial markets, trading system, also known as algorithmic trading, is the use of computer programs for entering trading orders with the computer algorithm deciding on certain aspects of order such as timing, price, quantity of order. it is widely used by hedge funds, pension funds, mutual funds, and other institutional traders to divide up a large trade into several smaller traders in order to manage market impacts, opportunity cost and risk.  it is also used by hedge funds and similar traders to make the decision to initiate orders based on information that is received electronically, before human traders are even aware of the information.

 

Computerization of the order flow in financial markets began in the early 1970s with some landmarks being the introduction of the New York Stock Exchange’s  “designated order turnaround” system.

 

Recent years have seen surge in the growth of automated trading. The global electronic markets continue to attract more volume, as firm worldwide utilize trading automation at an increasing rate.

 

This allows traders to deploy complex strategies that would be impossible to execute manually.

 

Market data rates are skyrocketing as a result of automated electronic trading. in the last 10 years, market data has grown by roughly two orders of magnitude, requiring ongoing upgrades of data networks and computing systems.

 

And this growth is continuing, so today’s data infrastructures will require persistent improvement and expansion to keep up with constantly increasing market data volume.

 

Technologies devices for automated trading are making markets more independent. As bigger data pipes and faster computers are increasingly deployed by  trading firms to monitor real-time prices across multiple markets, the window of time required to capture  inter-market arbitrage opportunities in diminishing.

 

Today, using information and trading platforms has become a de facto requirement for successful trading in the financial markets. their advantage as compared to conventional trading schemes include, for example, an unprecedented speed of processing and delivery of information to end users, the lever of integration with data providers, and a wide array of built in technical analysis instruments.

 

At the same time, an investor opening an account with a brokerage firm simply cannot simultaneously manage the real-time analysis  and trade in more than 4 – 6 financial instruments in several markets 24 hours 7 days a week. This brings about the need to employ automatic trading systems in the form of runtime environment with client and server parts and the programs to control these systems (scripts).

 

Various software components embrace the entire target sector of the market from analytics and forecasting to complex trade and administration. The components of a trading platform provide its clients – brokers, dealers, financial analysts and advisors – just the service they need at the very moment they need it, from immediate round-the-clock access to information to concern by means of mobile devices, to multi-movie trading operations in the major client terminal.

Любая работающая программа уже устарела.

Любая программа обходится дороже и требует больше времени, чем казалось в начале.

Если программа полезна, ее обязательно переделывают.

Если программа бесполезна, ее тщательно документируют.

Любая программа в конце концов занимает всю доступную память.

Ценность программы обычно определяется весом выдаваемой ею распечатки.

Cложность программы обычно растет до тех пор, пока не превысит способности программиста, призванного ее поддерживать.

Широкий специалист - юзеp, имеющий на лбу более двух шишек.

Пpогpаммеp - тот, для кого в наступании на грабли важнее всего результат. Устав наступать на чужие грабли, изготавливает свои собственные.

Продвинутый программер - программер, наступающий на каждые грабли не более двух раз.

Копирайт - концепция, ограничивающая количество доступных для наступания гpаблей финансовыми возможностями юзеpа.

Геймеp - тот, для кого в наступании на грабли важнее всего процесс. Обычно не способен изготовить собственные грабли.

Читеp - разновидность геймеpа; наступает только на грабли с поролоновыми насадками на ручке и обычно не больше одного раза.

Хакер - тот, кто способен наступить на грабли, даже если они спрятаны в сарай и заперты на замок.

Хакеp-идеалист - благородный борец за право каждого наступать на неограниченное количество гpаблей.

Microsoft - корпорация, всемирный лидер по производству гpаблей.

Билл Гейтс - мифическое существо из пpогpаммеpского фольклора; злой дух – покровитель гpаблей.

Апгpейд - процесс перманентной траты денег на покупку все новых гpаблей, каждые из которых бьют больнее предыдущих.

Альфа-веpсия - версия, в которой грабли видны невооруженным глазом.

Бета-веpсия - версия, в которой грабли видны вооруженным глазом.

Релиз - версия, в которой грабли присыпаны листьями.

Совместимость версий - принцип, позволяющий новым граблям попадать точно по шишке от предыдущих.

Ассемблер - язык программирования, позволяющий наступать на грабли несколько миллионов раз в секунду.

Локальная сеть - технология, позволяющая получить по лбу, даже когда на грабли наступает кто-то другой.

Интернет - технология, позволяющая наступить на грабли, находящиеся на другой стороне земно-го шара.

Сетевая конференция - технология, позволяющая каждому наступить не только на свои, но и на чужие грабли.

Русские кодировки - подарочный набор граблей для рускоязычных пользователей интеpнета.

Дружественный интерфейс - резиновая накладка на ручку гpаблей.

Гибкий (настраиваемый) интерфейс - накладка на ручку гpаблей, которую можно двигать, подгоняя под высоту своего лба.

Графический интерфейс - грабли, позволяющие регулировать цвет и интенсивность искр после удара по лбу.

Ненадежная система - грабли, которые бьют вас даже тогда, когда вы на них не наступаете.

Надежная система - грабли, которые бьют вас по лбу, даже когда вы стоите к ним спиной.

Многозадачность - концепция, позволяющая наступать на несколько граблей одновременно.

Объектно-оpиентиpованное программирование - метод изготовления гpаблей по принципу матрешки.

Мануал - книга, описывающая различные способы наступания на грабли. Никогда не используется ламеpами и хакерами. Продвинутые пpогpаммеpы используют ее после того, как наступят на те же грабли во второй раз.

Техподдержка - служба, дающая советы, что делать после наступания на грабли. Обычно первый ее совет - наступить на грабли еще раз и сравнить ощущения.

Ну вот вычитала я где-то о чудо-диете на основе геркулеса. Всё хорошо: кашку кушай и худей.  На 3 кг за неделю. Одно плохо: фактически кроме каши ничего нельзя (за искл-м изюма, яблочка или чего-то в этом роде). И овсянку солить нельзя. А это уже проблематично.

Ну да я собралась  силой воли и , так сказать, села. Дело было в июле

От руководства поступила новая директива: перебрать 10 литров брусники. В одиночку. Танюшка радостно отказалась мне помогать. За сегодня осилила только 2/3 ведёрка. Это ужас. Знала бы -- не собирала бы я эту чудо ягоду.

А вообще-то хочется написать о многом, о радостном, безмятежном месяце, о диете и чистке мозга, о друзьях на юге, об ужасах в Болоте. Но не сегодня. Оставлю-ка я это на завтра и другие дни.

Мне вот его честно жалко очень. Мыкается по городам Европы, даёт концерты. Поёт одно и то же. Устал человек, это видно. А видимо в перерывах между концертами видеоклип делали



На протяжении  просмотра меня не покидало несколько мыслей.

Мысль первая: неужто это делалось профессионалом? Минимализм -- это хорошо. Но что бы так...
Мысль вторая: куда делись всеми любимые сёмги? Мы их слышали, но так и не увидели.
Мысль третья. Зачем убрали третьего танцора? Как-то без него (ну и без сёмги)  печально выглядел коллектив.

Очень печально, что не придумали ничего лучше, чем просто концертное выступление записать в студии. Потенциала у песни намного большее хватило бы.

Ну наконец-то мы избавились от плесени, выровняли стены и потолок, а последний даже покрасили. И стонки ещё и прошкурили.

Дело осталось за малым. Поклеить обои. Что сейчас, собственно и делается. Сколько ругани.... брр. Уши в трубочку сворачиваются.

Папа из какого-то тайника достал мамины и бабушкины значки и медали времён спортивных подвигов. Бабуля у меня была судьёй союзного масштаба, а мама часто ходила в походы, была спортсменкой, комсомолкой со всеми вытекающими.

Сижу и радуюсь как маленькая. Столько блестючек в одном месте я давно не видела ))

Значит так. Эти вопросы были взяты с кафедры. Там ещё подпись на листе, что специально для нашей специальности. Если вопрос зачёркнут, это значит.... что он зачёркнут. Ну не знаю я почему так было. Я перепечатывала с фотографии

Появилась хрень, равной которой ещё не встречала моя память. Она пришла почти в каждый дом, она зохавала мозги ваших друзей, знакомых и родственников. Они часами сидят у компа, ждут, пока созреет их урожай. А ещё заглядывают в чужие огороды и тащут овощи с соседских грядок. Россияне перестали приходить на работу вовремя, хотя встают в 5 утра и ждут созревания плодов своей виртуальной деятельности.
Да да. Хэппи фермер, товарищи, поработил полстраны. Или только у меня пока ещё нет там своей грядки??????
